Wiltshire is a beautiful county of rolling mists over the Salisbury
plain, ancient British settlements, Druid mystery, breathtaking
countryside and unique culture, both ancient and contemporary.
Visit the rural ancient gem of Amesbury, just two miles from
Stonehenge, or medieval Downton on the River Avon, home of the 16th
century ‘Cookoo Fair’, and the Saxon Moot, six miles south of Salisbury.
Then there are the fascinating ancient villages of Mere & Wilton,
just a few miles west of Salisbury, and minutes from Hindon! Mere
nestles beneath the downs, and sits a few miles from the Somerset and
Dorset borders – it has a wealth of flora, fauna, ancient secrets and
glorious gardens & houses. Wilton is the ancient capital of Wessex,
and gave its name to the county of Wiltshire!
